Interview of a counselor..
Good Evening to all my friends, I am Swarali Shrihari Joshi, from S.B.E.S college of Arts and Commerce. Under the college activity 'know your society, through Interview', today am taking an interview of Mrs. Mrudul. P. Kulkarni. She is a counsellor and part of 'Dream Directors - DMIT'. So, without wasting a time, let's begin!
Swarali :- Good Evening ma'am.
Mrs. Mrudul :-
Good Evening!
Swarali:- Ma'am, my first question is, what is counselling? What's our society view on it?
Mrs. Mrudul :- Yes. First, I will talk about, what is counselling. So, a scientific understanding about what the problem is and providing accurate guidance on it is known as counselling. And about our society's view on it, it is associated with mental illness & depression. But this is not truth.
There are various types of counselling. Counselling on mental - illness & depression is totally different than other types. like, counselling about carreer, business, relationships, health etc.
Swarali :- So, what type of counselling do you use?
Mrs. Mrudul :- For counselling, I use Finger-print analysis technique which is know as 'DMIT'. In this, we analyse finger prints of client & then after we start actual counselling, based on that analysis. We do counselling in only one sitting and we don't give any medicine. Our counselling helps clients to get rid from medicines. Our main focus is on four pillars of life. i.e. health, wealth, career & relationship.
Swarali :- Ma'am, why have you chosen counselling as your profession?
Mrs. Mrudul :- Initially, I was working as a teacher. At that time, I came into contact with many parents through meetings in school. Then, I heard about their problems regarding their children & their studies, their expectations with their child, teacher's expectations with students, and in this, I saw children are being spoiled & frustrated. So, we don't get satisfactory output From students. So, for getting the root of the problem and solving it & for doing something for society, I chose the path of counselling.
Swarali :- So, what kind of training for this do you have?
Mrs. Mrudul :- I have persued the course of 'DMIT'. There are many options for this course, but under the "Mission Online Counselling" I have completed this course.
Swarali :- What is your primary motivation while working with clients of different mentality?
Mrs. Mrudul :- Of course, I have observed and analysed numerous clients with different mentalities. Each one had different problem. So, in such cases, I prefer to understand them first, reveal their stress and then guide them on their problems. My primary motivation is helping them to become stress-free and help to solve their problems.
Swarali :- Which are the most important skills, do you think a counsellor must possess?
Mrs. Mrudul :- The very first skill or quality is patience. Because, you have to listen problems of clients patiently. Second is ability to understand the client. Because, if the client is in problem, it can be reacted in any way. So, you have to understand client and the next is the art of explaining. You have to satisfy the client with your guidance & explanation and that person should feel confident and relaxed about that, this is the right person to discuss his/her problems with. So, patience, understanding & art of explaining are the most important skills, I think that a counsellor must have.
Swarali :- Ma'am, previously you told about understanding. So, what is more important do you think - compassion or understanding? and why?
Mrs. Mrudul :- Obviously understanding! In counselling this quality is most important. If you will show any compassion towards client, while counselling, I think the accuracy of guidance will decrease. You must have neutral, while analysing your client while counselling.
Swarali :- Also like this, in today's situation, what is most important; being happy or being successful?
Mrs. Mrudul :- Yes. In today's competitive era, everyone is running to succeed. Somewhere in this, the person's happiness is being lost. Even if you are successful today and there is no happiness in your life, it has no meaning. If you are running for success but are not happy, you won't get success as per you deserve it. I think happiness is a base for being successful. So, for me, being happy is more important.
Swarali :- In recents, Engineering & Medical these career fields are first choise of students. So, what other career fields are there, that students are not much aware about, but are beneficial to them in terms of career and offer good salary?
Mrs.Mrudul :- Yes. There are so many career opportunities in addition to engineering and medical, Like graphics, designing, acoustic engineering, audio mixing & editing, animation, various options to Arts Faculty etc. Also there are some job options based on your sensory powers, e.g. 'SmellerЁЯСГ'. In this, a person can get good salaryЁЯТ░ in perfume Industry. You just have to say in this that the combination is perfectly made or not, with your strong sense of smelling. Like this, there are so many career options.
Swarali :- What is difference between coaching, counselling and advising?
Mrs.Mrudul :- I previously told you about what counselling is. In this, we do deeper study of human mind, nature etc, then we suggest them about solutions, opportunities, weaknesses, strengths etc. About advise any one can us advise. And it is not always scientific and in favour of us. And about coaching, in this only prescribed syllabus includes and morals related to it. So, counselling is more comprehensive than advising and coaching.
Swarali :- Now, my main question is, What is 'DMIT' ? How this technology works?
Mrs.Mrudul :- 'DMIT' means, Dermatoglyphics Multiple Intelligence Test. 'DMIT' analyzes Fingerprint patterns to understand an individual's innate potential, strengths & learning styles, based on the theory that Finger-prints are linked to brain development. 'DMIT' can help individuals to understand their strengthsЁЯТк, weaknessesЁЯШг, preferred learning styles, potential career paths and make informed decisions about education & carreer choise. The accuracy rate of this technology is 97%
Swarali :- Can you give an example of any case have you analysed with this technology?
Mrs.Mrudul :- Yes. First of all to say, we don't take ony Input from clients. We just analyse their fingerprints, make report and then we start to counselling. So, in one case, parents came with their wheelchair-bounded son. He was good swimmer & national level champion. So, I analysed his fingerprints and told them about various aspects of his brain, just said before. In that, swimming was not potential for him and I easily told them to don't go on that path. Because I was totally unaware about his past and thought that he was on wheelchair by temporary cause. But suddenly, they started (parents) crying and when I asked for that, they told that they commited same mistake. They encouraged him for swimming & one day, while diving in water, he got severe injury on backbone and now he is wheelchair-bounded for lifetime.
Like this, with 'DMIT' we guide our clients for their strengths & weaknesses both. And suggest them, don't go against your potential energies & weaknesses.
Swarali :- What are your strengths do you think, that help you in your profession?
Mrs. Mrudul :- I think my different and unique style of counselling is my strength. Also, we provide our clients with recordingsЁЯУ╝ of session that other counsellors do not. Along with this, If a client comes and goes today & faces any problem later, we resolve it without any charge. We stay in touch with them for lifetimeЁЯЫЯ.
Swarali :- Ma'am what are your hobbies ? do that help you in your professional growth?
Mrs. Mrudul :- Surely. I think because of that hobbies I'm a counsellor today. I like to understand other's problems and guide them or help them for solving it. Also I like cooking and love to prepare & serve different dishes. In addition to this, I really like to talk and chat. I like to talk to people & get to know their thoughts & then as a counsellor, analyse why they think the way they do and try to know their personality traits.
Swarali :- Apart from career & education, what other areas do you provide counselling in?
Mrs. Mrudul :- Apart from career, other areas like business, relationships, health, family problems etc. are there in which, I provide my service.
Swarali :- In current changing social situation and system, the divorce rate has increased significantly. So what is your opinion on the changing Family system?
Mrs. Mrudul :- Nowadays, there is no longer any attitude to understand each other. Person thinks that everyone should listen to me, and this is the main problem. We are not ready to give up our ego. About couples, they are not giving sufficient time to each other and are not ready to understad too. So, divorce rate in society is increasing.
But I'm happy to say that, I have handled many such cases & have prevented many couples from getting divorced.
Swarali :- Nowadays, mental health is in danger. so, what's your opinion about it ?
Mrs. Mrudul :- Exactly. In present situation, the rate of mental disorders is comparatively very high in our society. There are so many reasons for it, Like, one's family background, nurturing, genetics, loneliness etc. But now I think 'MobileЁЯд│' is biggest reason for it. I find this more in youths. There is need to stop this somewhere, and we try to help such kind of clients with our counselling.
Swarali :- Now, ma'am, my final question is, What message or advise would you like to give students & those who want to pursue a career in counselling?
Mrs. Mrudul :- I think students must come in this Field. There are so many options in this field and you could get good salary too.
I think everyone should be a good counsellor even if you didn't choose this as a profession. This is a very need for our society. Because we have to make people mentaly strong along with us.
Swarali :- Now, Thank you ma'am for your precious time and guidance. I'm feeling enlightened about the field of counselling and I feel this will help me in the future too. Again heartiest thank you and have a good night!
Mrs. Mrudul :- Most welcome dear, Thank you & GnЁЯО╖ !
