The year 2023 turned out to be very important for Indian space research. The successful launch of Chandrayaan 3 and Aditya L 1 made India a world leader in space.
Chandrayaan 3 successfully landed on a part of the moon that is impossible for the world, i.e. the south pole of the moon, so the eyesЁЯСБ️ЁЯСБ️ of the world widened.
Today we will look at class 10th part-1 10th lesson on space missions.
The difference between space and sky.
- Definition of the sky:- The visible wide portion of the atmosphere and outer space seen by the naked eye, without any equipment from the Earth, is known as the sky.
- Definition of space:- the unlimited empty three-dimensional expense in which the solar system, stars, celestial bodies, galaxies, and the endless universe exist is known as space.
* The different objects in the solar system.
- Our solar system Copernican is a very tiny part of the huge Galaxy- Milky Way.
- SunЁЯМЮ is a star. The sun is at the center of the solar system.
- In our solar system mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune these planets are present. Some planets have their own natural satellites example Earth's natural satellite is the moon.
- Besides some celestial bodies are present such as asteroids, meteoroids, comets, and meteors in the solar system.
ЁЯО╖ Information of satellite.
- Definition:- An astronomical small object orbiting any planet or our solar system is called a satellite.
- Mercury and Venus have no satellites.
- Some planets have more than one satellite.
- Ex
- Jupiter has 69 satellites.
- Saturn/Shani-82
- Uranus- 27
- Neptune- 14.
- The Earth has only one natural satellite called the moon.
ЁЯеБ Which type of telescopes are orbiting around the earth? why is it necessary to put them in space?
Three types of telescopes are orbiting around the earth.
- Optical refracting telescope.
- optical reflecting telescope.
- radio telescope.
The intensity of light reaching the Earth's surface from celestial bodies decreases because of the atmosphere, changes in temperature, bright sunlight during the day, city light during the night, and air pressure, etc.
To get rid of these problems scientists have successfully launched a telescope in space. Images obtained by this telescope are brighter and clearer than those obtained by the telescope located on the Earth's surface.
- Both sky and space lack a definite boundary. However, the sky is a very tiny part of space.
- The first person to go into space in a spacecraft was Yuri Gagarin of the then USSR.
- Buzz Aldrin was the second manЁЯО╖to land onЁЯж╡ the moon in the Apollo 11 mission.
- The first person to step on the moonЁЯж╡ was Neil Armstrong of the USA in 1969.
- In 1984 Rakesh Sharma of India orbited the earth in a Russian spacecraft.
- Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams of Indian origin also participated in space explorations by NASA.
ЁЯО╗ Where does the signal in our cell phone come from?
Ans:- Many mobile towers are installed in nearby areas at various places. Our cell phones receive signals from one of these nearby mobile tower.
ЁЯО╖ Where does the signal to our TV set come from?
- The television center transmits the TV program which first reaches the satellite.
- A small portable dish antenna fixed on the rooftop is used to receive the TV signals directly from the satellite.
- The cable connected to the dish antenna and TV set brings the program to our TV set.
ЁЯО╖ We may have seen photographs showing the position of the monsoon clouds over the country in the newspaper. How, are these images obtained?
Weather satellites take photographs of the sky above the Earth's surface showing the position of the monsoon cloud. Territorial boundaries of the states and the country are drawn later on these images with the help of a computer.
Do remember Some short forms
- INSAT:- Indian national satellite.
- GSAT-:- Geosynchronous satellite.
- IRNSS:- Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System.
- Indian Remote Sensing Satellite.
- GSLV:- Geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle
- PSLV:-Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle
ЁЯО╗ Objectives of a space mission.
Ans
- To understand, study, and research the space by launching artificial satellites.
- For various purposes like telecommunication in radio, TV programs, and weather studies.
- By sending artificial satellites beyond the earth's orbit to observe, study, and collect information about other planets, meteors, meteoroids, asteroids, and comments.
- For the future survival of humanity, it is necessary to understand the universe beyond the solar system.
- To inspire the next generation to increase National prestige.
Importance of space mission.
Ans
- Real-time communication across the world.
- Receiving abundant information.
- For better management of natural resources.
- Collect information for security aspects by military satellite.
- Advanced management of some natural calamities.
